What exactly is a Nuet?
Years ago my brother William and I spent our summers working in a small divestore in eastern North Carolina. And as anyone who has ever worked in retail can tell you, the hours are long and not all that interesting. To pass the time, William and I would talk about our main interests: writing and quantum mechanics. That is to say, I would talk out whatever story I was currently working on, and William would try to explain to me why the entire universe was made of string. There's a cat in there somewhere, but I don't know where to find him (but he's moving quickly).
The Nuet was one of our creations. I was annoyed with the idea that when the heroic farmboy loses himself in the woods, a small woodland creature would magically appear and lead the farmboy to water, shelter, or the secret underground lair of the evil overlord. Why would the woodland creature be so kind? How would the woodland creature know what it was the farmboy was looking for?
Enter the Nuet. The Nuet is a small woodland creature, devastating in its cute and fluffiness and should you find yourself dying of thirst, more than happy to lead you right over a cliff and into a raging, crocodile filled river below.
